Animal Spay/Neuter International was set up to connect animal welfare organizations to create an aggregation of animal welfare services.
Dr. Aurelian Stefan, DVM
In 2003, Dr. Aurelian Stefan was awarded a grant from the Louis Pasteur National Research Institute for a project involving the effects of various food ingredients on animals and their enviroment. He graduated from vet school in Bucharest in 2004. In 2006, he co-authored "Post-operative Pain Evaluation in Pets," --The Scientific Studies Congress of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Timisoara, April 2006
Dr. Aurelian traveled to the US and apprenticed for four months under the guidance of Dr. Young. He returned to Romania and set up a couple of spay/neuter projects with local groups. He now runs his own clinic where low cost surgeries are performed. The clinic also boards animals overnight free of charge when necessary.
Dr. Pepe Stefan, DVM
Dr. Pepe Stefan graduated first in his class from the University of Bucharest in 2006. He received a full scholarship during his study because of his high grades. His expertise is in orthopedics, traumatology and neurology.
He is married with two sons, with another born in May, 2009.
Dr. Richard Bachman, DVM
Dr. Bachman graduated from the University of California, Davis Veterinary College in 1982. He was the owner of a veterinary hospital in Sonoma County, CA, for 18 years. For the last 15 years he has directed Shelter Medicine Support, a private shelter medicine consulting practice specializing in design development and management of animal shelter medical programs.
Dr. Bachman has worked internationally in India, Romania and Mexico with various animal welfare organizations, primarily assisting with shelter operations and sterilization projects. He was awarded AHA Shelter Veterinarian of the Year in 1999 and is a current member of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
Dr. Jeanne Olson, DVM
Dr. Olson has been practicing veterinary medicine in Alaska since 1988. She owns and operates Raven Veterinary Services in North Pole, Alaska. Much of her work involves sled dogs. In 2004, she spoke at the International Sled Dog Symposium on "Mush with Pride Workshop--Alaskan Wildfires: Is Your Kennel Ready?"
She has graciously offered her services by travelling to Romania in 2006 and 2007 to train local veterinarians in performing modern spay/neuter procedures. We welcomed her energy and enthusiasm on her last trip to Romania in Spring 2010.
